Altiro builds you a running and strength training plan and keeps track of the workouts you do. This page explains what information Altiro keeps, why, who else handles it, and how to remove it.
The short version: Altiro uses your information only to run your training plan. We don't sell it, we don't share it with advertisers, and we don't show it to other users.
What Altiro keeps
- Your account: your email address and name. Your password is handled by our sign-in provider and is never visible to us.
- Your training setup: goal, experience level, training days, running/lifting balance, intensity, the miles you run now, your equipment, how you split your lifting, and anything you chose to add such as age range, gender and body weight.
- Your training: the workouts in your plan and any you create, what you log (distances, times, sets, weights, reps, notes, how a workout felt), your lift targets and personal records.
- Feedback you send us: your message, along with your email and a snapshot of your plan setup and device type, so we can act on it and reply.
- Workout reminders, if you turn them on: your reminder time and time zone, the names of your next few weeks of workouts (so a reminder can say what's planned), and a push address for each device you allowed notifications on. Turning reminders off stops them; signing out removes that device.
- Your runs' routes, if you track a run with GPS: while you're tracking a run, Altiro uses your phone's precise location to measure the distance, pace and mile splits and to draw the route. The route is saved with that run in your account so you can see its map again and share it. Location is only used while a run is being tracked (and, in the Altiro phone app, it keeps tracking that run while your screen is locked, with a notification showing); it isn't collected at any other time. The run's elevation gain and loss are saved with it too. You can delete a run, or your whole account, at any time.
- Your location, for the weather, only if you allow it: when you tap the weather on Today, your approximate location (rounded to about a kilometer) is sent to Open-Meteo to get the forecast. Altiro doesn't save your location on its servers; the last forecast is kept on your device for half an hour.
- On your device: small preferences like language and light/dark theme, stored in the app.
Strava
Connecting Strava is optional. If you connect it, Altiro reads your runs from Strava so they're logged against your plan automatically, for example a run recorded on a Garmin watch that syncs to Strava.
What we read
- Your Strava athlete ID and name, to show which account is connected.
- Your recent activities. Altiro keeps only runs, and from each one only its ID, name, type, start date and time, distance, moving time and elapsed time. We don't keep maps, routes, heart rate, photos or comments, and we never read anyone else's data.
- Altiro asks for access to activities marked "Only You", because runs uploaded from a watch are often private by default. They stay private: only you see them in Altiro.
How we use it
- Only to log your runs to your own training plan and show them back to you, with a link to view each one on Strava.
- We never sell Strava data, share it with anyone else, show it to other users, or use it to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
- The keys that let Altiro read your Strava account are stored on our server, never on your device, and are used only by the part of Altiro that fetches your runs.
Disconnecting
- In Altiro, go to Settings → Connected Apps → Disconnect. This deletes Altiro's access keys, withdraws Altiro's access on Strava, and deletes any Strava runs not yet logged to your plan.
- You can also withdraw access from Strava: Settings → My Apps → Altiro → Revoke Access on strava.com.
- Runs already logged to your plan stay in your workout history as your own logs, until you delete them or delete your account.
Why we use it
- To build and adjust your plan, and show your progress.
- To keep your plan and history in sync across your devices.
- To read and answer feedback you send.
We don't use your information for advertising, and there are no third-party ads or ad trackers in Altiro.
Who else handles it
Altiro relies on a few services to run. Each handles your information only to provide its part of the app:
- Supabase hosts Altiro's database, sign-in and server functions.
- Strava, only if you connect it, as described above.
- Resend delivers the email that lets the Altiro team know you sent feedback.
- OpenFreeMap provides the street maps shown under your runs' routes. Like any map service it receives requests for the map area being shown (and your IP address); it doesn't receive your route or your account.
- Open-Meteo provides the weather forecast, only if you allow location for it. It receives your rounded location and returns the forecast. When you finish a run tracked with GPS, it also receives sample points along that route (not your account) and returns the terrain height there, for the run's elevation gain and loss.
- Your browser's push service (Google for Chrome, Apple for Safari, Mozilla for Firefox), only if you turn on workout reminders on the website or home-screen app. It delivers each reminder to your device; the message is encrypted so only your device can read it. In the App Store and Google Play apps, reminders are scheduled on your phone itself and no push service is involved.
- GitHub Pages serves the website version of Altiro and Google Fonts serves its fonts. Like any website, they receive standard request information such as your IP address.
Keeping it and deleting it
Your information is kept while you have an Altiro account. You can delete your account and everything Altiro keeps about you at any time, and it's deleted right away:
- In the app: Settings → Delete account.
- On the web: Delete your Altiro account (sign in, then delete).
- Or email altiro580@gmail.com from the address you signed up with, and we'll delete it within 30 days and let you know when it's done.
Deleting your account also withdraws Altiro's access to Strava if you'd connected it. Copies in our providers' routine backups are overwritten on their normal schedule.
Security
Everything is sent over encrypted connections. Your data is protected so that each account can read only its own records.
Children
Altiro isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly keep information about them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. For a significant change, we'll tell you in the app.
